  • We always like to begin with the basics as this is where most folks need the most help. The foundation is the most important part of any endeavor.
  • Everything is very hands on as you really learn by doing! We move on as quickly as we are able.
  • We provide assistants so each person gets the personal attention they need.
  • Each horse as well as each person will progress at a different rate, so you will receive all you can handle during each day.
  • Safety is our number one concern

Sample Clinic Itinerary

Foundation of Natural Horsemanship Skills: This segment will go over the basics and foundation of skills needed in natural horsemanship. We will cover the how, when and why of each skill on the ground. This is a "hands on clinic" as one learns best by doing. We will cover:
a) Respect of space
b) Pressure vs. the release of pressure
c) Purpose of lounging/groundwork
d) Flexion and disengaging of the hindquarters.

Application in the Saddle: We will apply all of the above basic skills in the saddle. This will begin to show how it all applies in any real life situation. The foundation is what gives one the knowledge or knowing of how to control your horse in any given situation. You will begin to have skills to solve most any issue you may incur on the trail or in the arena.

Desensitizing/Bomb-proofing: We will go over various techniques used to teach your horse to think through situations rather than react to them. These techniques will be used with skills acquired in hour #1. This is a very important aspect much neglected by horse owners in every realm. However, this is what really creates a relationship between you and your horse than few ever acquire. The relationship is what its all about!

The Use of Obstacles: In the last hour we will go over various obstacles that will teach your horse to "lead up free". Things such as tarps, going over and through objects ie. rails, barrels, curtains etc. Issues such as trailer loading, standing still to mount, not allowing your horse to walk off, opening and closing of gates from the saddle can and will be applied so as to give you more knowledge that you can apply in any real life situation. We can also take some time to address specific training issues and questions people have.
